In what is being dubbed a freak accident, Heidi Montag’s 24-year-old stepbrother, Eric O’Hara was killed at the hotel where he worked in Colorado. He died last Thursday at the Steamboat Grand Resort Hotel after falling off a sloped roof while cleaning it of snow. Reports say that he had removed his safety harness literally moments before he fell.

O’Hara was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and a verteran of Iraq and Afghanistan. He had just returned home from a 15 month tour in Iraq.

In a statement released to TMZ Heidi said, “Losing my brother, at an early age is such a tragedy. I just loved him more than anything. He was just so patriotic. He really wanted to go to and help and do all that he could for his country. He felt like it was his duty. I’ll really miss him.” [source]

I make fun of her a lot, but it is really sad to lose a family member, especially in this kind of circumstance.
